FAQ
Welcome to ARN. Our goal is to make the process of selecting, ordering, and caring for your motorcycle gear as clear and seamless as possible.
Below you’ll find answers to the questions we hear most often about our custom fit suits, leather options, Tech-Air compatibility, gloves, designs, production, returns, and more.
Custom Fit Suits
What makes an ARN suit different from a standard motorcycle suit?
ARN suits are built around the rider rather than asking the rider to adapt to a standard size.
Our custom fit process is designed to create a precise fit based on your individual measurements, riding position, body proportions, and intended use. The result is a suit designed to move with you while maintaining the secure, performance oriented fit expected from premium motorcycle riding gear.
Are ARN suits truly custom fit?
Yes. ARN suits are made to your individual measurements rather than simply selecting a standard size.
Our measurement process is an important part of the ARN experience. We guide you through the process to help ensure your measurements are taken accurately before your suit enters production.
How does the ARN custom fit process work?
Our process is designed to be personal and guided from beginning to end.
After placing your order, you will receive instructions for our measurement process. You will first review and practice with our measurement video. Once you have completed that step and responded to our team, we will move forward with your measurement consultation.
During your consultation, you will work with an ARN suit engineer who will guide you through the measurement process and help ensure your measurements are properly captured.
Do I need someone to help me take my measurements?
Yes. We recommend having another person assist you during the measurement process.
Accurate measurements are essential to creating a properly fitted motorcycle suit, and many of the measurements cannot be taken accurately by yourself.
How long does the measurement consultation take?
Your measurement consultation typically takes approximately 30–45 minutes.
We recommend setting aside enough uninterrupted time so that our suit engineer can carefully guide you through the process.
What should I wear during my measurement consultation?
For the most accurate measurements, we ask that you wear as little clothing as reasonably appropriate, allowing our suit engineer to take precise measurements directly against the body.
For women, we recommend wearing a tank top and shorts.
For men, boxer shorts are preferable.
We want as much of the body as reasonably possible to remain visible during the measurement process so that our suit engineer can accurately assess measurements, proportions, and body positioning.
If you will be wearing a Tech-Air system underneath your ARN suit, please have the system available and wear it during your measurement consultation.
For privacy and comfort, please choose clothing that allows for accurate measurements while still making you feel comfortable throughout your consultation.
Can I order a suit if I don’t have standard body proportions?
Absolutely.
One of the primary advantages of an ARN custom fit suit is that it is built around your individual measurements, rather than requiring your body to conform to a standard size chart.
Our goal is to create a balanced fit throughout the suit based on your individual proportions.
Tech-Air Ready
Are ARN suits Tech-Air ready?
Yes. ARN suits are approved to be designated Tech-Air ready for use with compatible Alpinestars Tech-Air systems.
However, Tech-Air readiness is dependent on the suit being properly measured and constructed for use with the Tech-Air system from the beginning of the custom fit process.
A customer who wants a Tech-Air ready ARN suit must be measured while wearing the Tech-Air system that will be used with the suit.
What does “Tech-Air ready” mean?
A Tech-Air ready ARN suit is measured and constructed to accommodate a compatible Alpinestars Tech-Air airbag system underneath the suit.
The additional dimensions and space requirements created by the Tech-Air system must be accounted for during the custom fitting process.
For this reason, the Tech-Air system must be worn during your ARN measurement consultation if you want your suit to be Tech-Air ready.
Do I need to wear my Tech-Air system during my measurements?
Yes.
If you intend to use a Tech-Air system with your ARN suit, you must have the system available and wear it during your measurement consultation.
Our suit engineer will take your measurements with the Tech-Air system on your body so the suit can be constructed around the additional dimensions required by the system.
What happens if I am measured without my Tech-Air system?
If you are measured without your Tech-Air system, your ARN suit will be constructed based on your measurements without the additional dimensions required for the airbag system.
As a result, your suit will not be considered Tech-Air ready.
This also means that if you decide to purchase or use a Tech-Air system in the future, your existing suit should not be assumed to be compatible with it.
What if I don’t currently have a Tech-Air system but may want one in the future?
If you believe you may want to ride with a Tech-Air system in the future, we strongly recommend obtaining the appropriate system before completing your ARN measurement consultation.
Your suit must be measured and constructed with the Tech-Air system in place in order for it to be considered Tech-Air ready.
Choosing to be measured without the system means your suit will be constructed as a non Tech-Air ready suit.
Tech-Air readiness cannot simply be added after the suit has been manufactured.
Can I add Tech-Air compatibility to my ARN suit later?
No. Tech-Air readiness is established during the custom measurement and construction process.
The suit must be measured with the Tech-Air system and constructed with the appropriate fit considerations from the beginning.
If your suit was measured and manufactured without the Tech-Air system, it should not be considered Tech-Air ready simply because you later purchase an airbag system.
What if I already own a Tech-Air system?
Please have the exact Tech-Air system you intend to use with your ARN suit available during your measurement consultation.
You will need to wear the system while being measured so our suit engineer can account for it during the custom fitting process.
Can I use a different airbag system with my ARN suit?
Airbag compatibility can vary depending on the specific system and suit configuration.
Please contact ARN before placing your order if you intend to use an airbag system other than a compatible Alpinestars Tech-Air system.
A suit constructed for one airbag system should not automatically be assumed to be compatible with another.
Why is measuring with Tech-Air so important?
A custom motorcycle suit is designed around the rider’s body and riding position. Wearing an airbag system underneath the suit changes the dimensions and space required inside the garment.
By measuring you while the Tech-Air system is already in place, our suit engineer can account for those additional dimensions during the custom fit process.
If you intend to ride with Tech-Air, you must have your Tech-Air system with you and wear it during your ARN measurement consultation.
Leather & Materials
What type of leather does ARN use?
ARN offers premium leather options selected for motorcycle riding applications, including cowhide and kangaroo leather.
The appropriate leather depends on your priorities, riding style, and desired balance of weight, flexibility, durability, and protection.
What is the difference between kangaroo leather and cowhide leather?
Both are premium materials for motorcycle protective gear, but they have different characteristics.
Kangaroo leather is known for its exceptional strength to weight ratio. It provides a lightweight, supple feel while maintaining excellent strength.
Cowhide leather is a traditional choice for motorcycle protective gear and is valued for its durability, abrasion resistance, structure, and versatility.
In simple terms:
Kangaroo: lightweight, supple, strong, and performance focused.
Cowhide: durable, substantial, traditional, and highly versatile.
The best choice ultimately depends on your riding style and personal preferences.
Can ARN ship kangaroo leather suits to California?
No. ARN does not sell or ship kangaroo leather suits to customers in California due to California law.
Customers with a California shipping address are not eligible to order an ARN suit constructed with kangaroo leather.
California customers may select from ARN’s available cowhide leather options instead.
This restriction is based on California law and is outside of ARN’s control.
Is kangaroo leather thinner than cowhide?
Kangaroo leather can provide excellent strength at a lower thickness than many cowhide constructions, which is one reason it is valued in performance motorcycle gear.
However, leather thickness alone does not determine the protective performance of a garment. Construction, reinforcement, stitching, patterning, armor, and the overall design of the suit are also important factors.
Is kangaroo leather more flexible?
Generally, kangaroo leather is known for being supple and flexible while maintaining a strong structure.
This can make it particularly appealing to riders who prioritize a lightweight, close fitting feel.
Is cowhide less protective than kangaroo leather?
Not necessarily.
Both materials can be used to create highly protective motorcycle gear. Protection depends on the complete construction of the garment, not simply whether the leather is cowhide or kangaroo.
Does real leather have natural variations?
Yes.
Natural leather may contain variations in grain, texture, color, and appearance. These characteristics are inherent to genuine leather and are not necessarily considered imperfections.
Because ARN works with natural materials, no two hides will look exactly alike.
Design & Customization
Can I create my own custom suit design?
Yes. ARN offers a curated selection of suit designs, and riders who want something uniquely their own can select the Full Custom Design option when building their suit.
Full Custom Design is handled as a guided conversation with our team after your order is placed. We work with you on colors, layout, and detailing while keeping the construction, protective features, and craftsmanship consistent with every ARN suit.
Our design program is still growing, and we look forward to expanding the options available to riders over time.
Can I choose the colors of my suit?
Available colors and design options depend on the ARN suit model and our current offerings.
Our team can provide you with the available options for your selected suit.
Can I add my own logos or graphics?
Personal logos and graphics can be discussed as part of the Full Custom Design option. Some artwork may be limited by construction requirements, protective zones, or licensing, and our team will confirm what is possible during your design conversation.
We are continuing to develop our customization capabilities and intend to offer expanded options over time.
Can ARN make a replica of another rider’s suit?
ARN does not currently offer exact replicas of another manufacturer’s or rider’s custom suit design.
Our focus is on developing an ARN design language that is distinctive to our brand and engineered around the rider.
Fit & Comfort
How do I break in my ARN suit?
Leather naturally requires time to soften, relax, and conform to your body. A new ARN suit may feel firm or tight when you first receive it, and this is completely normal during the break in period.
ARN recommends spending at least 35 hours wearing your suit before considering it fully broken in. During this time, the leather will gradually soften and begin to move more naturally with your body and riding position.
Breaking in your suit is especially important before wearing it on the track. New leather can feel restrictive when it has not yet had enough time to soften, which may limit your range of motion and comfort while riding. New leather surfaces may also feel slick before they have been properly worn in.
We recommend wearing your suit regularly before your first track day and spending time moving naturally in it, including sitting in a riding position, bending your arms and legs, and allowing the leather to gradually conform to your body.
If your suit feels tight when it is new, this does not necessarily mean the fit is incorrect. Premium leather riding gear is designed to have a secure, performance oriented fit, and the way your suit feels when it first arrives can be noticeably different from how it feels once fully broken in.
The same principle applies to leather gloves. Leather naturally becomes softer and more comfortable with wear, which is why allowing proper break in time is an important part of getting the best fit, comfort, and performance from your ARN gear.
How should a motorcycle suit fit?
A motorcycle suit should fit securely and closely without restricting normal riding movement.
A properly fitted racing suit may feel snug while standing. The fit should be evaluated in the riding position because motorcycle suits are designed around the rider’s posture on the motorcycle.
Your ARN suit is built with your measurements and riding position in mind.
Why does my suit feel tight when I’m standing?
This can be normal.
Motorcycle racing suits are designed around the riding position rather than an upright standing position. Areas such as the arms, shoulders, legs, and torso may feel different when standing compared with sitting on a motorcycle.
If you have concerns about the fit, contact ARN before making any alterations.
What should I do if my suit doesn’t fit correctly when I receive it?
Contact ARN before wearing the suit extensively or making any alterations.
Because ARN suits are custom made, we want the opportunity to evaluate the fit and determine whether an adjustment or other solution is appropriate.
What if my body measurements or weight change after I have been measured?
Your ARN suit is custom made based on the measurements taken and confirmed during your measurement consultation.
Once your measurements have been finalized and your suit enters production, significant changes to your body size, weight, or proportions may affect the final fit of your suit.
If you gain or lose weight, gain significant muscle mass, or experience other changes to your body measurements between your measurement consultation and receiving your completed suit, ARN cannot be responsible for fit issues resulting from those changes.
If you experience a significant change in your body measurements before your suit enters production, please contact ARN immediately. Depending on the production status of your order, we may be able to review your measurements before manufacturing begins.
Because every ARN suit is individually made to the measurements provided and confirmed during the fitting process, fit issues resulting from changes to the customer’s body after measurements have been finalized are not considered manufacturing defects.
Can I have my ARN suit altered by another tailor?
We strongly recommend contacting ARN before having any alterations performed by a third party.
Unauthorized alterations can affect the construction, protective features, fit, and integrity of the suit and may affect eligibility for manufacturing coverage.
Protection & Performance
Are ARN suits designed for motorcycle racing?
ARN develops motorcycle gear with performance riding and track use in mind.
The appropriate suit should always be selected according to your intended riding environment and the requirements of your specific track, racing organization, or governing body.
Does ARN gear come with armor?
Armor and protective components vary by suit model.
Please refer to the specifications of your selected ARN suit for the included protective equipment.
Can I use my ARN suit on the racetrack?
Yes. ARN suits are designed with performance riding in mind.
However, individual racetracks and racing organizations may have their own requirements regarding suit construction, armor, airbag systems, closures, certifications, and other safety equipment.
Always verify your track or race organization’s current requirements before attending an event.
Is an airbag system required?
Airbag requirements vary depending on the track, racing organization, event, and riding environment.
ARN recommends riders carefully consider an appropriate airbag system as part of their overall protective equipment and verify compatibility with their specific suit.
Gloves
What leather are ARN gloves available in?
ARN offers motorcycle gloves in premium leather options, including kangaroo and cowhide, depending on the specific glove model.
What is the difference between ARN kangaroo and cowhide gloves?
Kangaroo leather gloves are generally valued for their lightweight feel, suppleness, and high strength to weight ratio.
Cowhide gloves are known for their durability, structure, and traditional motorcycle protection characteristics.
Both can provide excellent performance when properly designed and constructed.
Can ARN ship kangaroo leather gloves to California?
No. Kangaroo leather gloves are not available for sale or shipment to California due to California law.
Customers with a California shipping address will need to select an available cowhide glove option.
This restriction applies to all ARN products containing kangaroo leather, including both motorcycle gloves and suits.
ARN will not process or ship an order containing kangaroo leather to a California shipping address.
How should ARN gloves fit?
Motorcycle gloves should fit securely without excessive movement while allowing comfortable finger articulation.
Leather gloves may feel snug when new and can soften and conform with use.
Do ARN gloves stretch?
Natural leather can relax and conform to the rider’s hand over time.
However, gloves should not be purchased with the expectation that they will significantly increase in size. Proper sizing from the beginning is important.
Orders & Production
When does the custom suit process begin?
The custom process begins after your order has been placed and ARN provides you with the next steps for measurements.
We do not move forward with production until the required measurement process has been completed.
Can I change my measurements after my suit goes into production?
Once your suit has entered production, changes may no longer be possible.
For this reason, it is important to carefully complete the measurement process and communicate any relevant information to our team before production begins.
Can I change my design after I approve it?
Once production has begun, design or specification changes may not be possible.
Please carefully review your available selections and confirm all details before final approval.
How long will my custom suit take?
Production times can vary depending on the current production schedule, materials, order volume, and the complexity of the order.
ARN will provide the most current estimated timeline during the ordering process.
Can I rush my custom suit?
Rush availability depends on ARN’s current production capacity and the specific order.
Please contact our team before placing your order if you have a specific deadline or event date.
Returns & Manufacturing Issues
Can I return my ARN gloves?
Eligible unused and unworn gloves may be returned within 30 days of delivery, subject to ARN’s Returns & Manufacturing Policy.
Gloves must be returned in their original condition and may not show signs of use, damage, alteration, or wear.
All returns are subject to inspection by ARN.
Approved returns will be refunded to the original method of payment.

Can I return my custom ARN suit?
Custom fit ARN suits are not eligible for standard returns due to a change of mind, preference, or fit preference after the suit has been approved and manufactured.
Because each suit is made specifically for the individual customer, the fitting and measurement process is an important part of the purchase.
If you believe there is a fit issue or manufacturing problem, please contact ARN so our team can evaluate the situation.
What if my suit or gloves have a manufacturing defect?
ARN provides 30 day manufacturing coverage for suits and gloves.
If you believe your product has a manufacturing defect, contact ARN within 30 days of delivery with your order information and photographs or videos showing the issue.
All manufacturing claims are subject to inspection and approval by ARN.
If ARN determines that the issue is a manufacturing defect, ARN may repair, replace, or otherwise resolve the product at its discretion.
What is not covered as a manufacturing defect?
Manufacturing coverage does not cover damage or fit issues caused by:
- Crashes or accidents
- Abrasion or impact
- Normal wear and tear
- Improper care or cleaning
- Improper use
- Unauthorized alterations
- Modifications by a third party
- Damage occurring after delivery
- Cosmetic changes associated with normal leather use
- Changes to the customer’s weight, body size, muscle mass, or body proportions after measurements have been finalized
For complete details, please review our ARN Returns & Manufacturing Policy.
Care & Maintenance
How should I care for my leather suit?
To care for a leather motorcycle suit, wipe away bugs and road grime with a damp microfiber cloth after rides. Deep clean 1 to 2 times a year using a dedicated leather cleaner, let it air dry naturally, and apply a nourishing leather conditioner or balm to keep the material supple.
Routine Maintenance
- Wipe down: Use a damp cloth or baby wipe to remove fresh bugs and dust before they set into the pores.
- Air it out: Hang the suit in a well-ventilated area after every ride to dry out sweat.
- Never use heat: Allow wet leathers to dry naturally at room temperature; direct sun or heaters make leather brittle and cracked.
- Proper storage: Hang the suit on a wide, sturdy hanger in a cool, dry closet. Never store it in an airtight plastic bag.
Can I wash my leather suit?
Leather motorcycle suits should not be treated like ordinary clothing.
Follow ARN’s specific care instructions for your suit. When in doubt, contact ARN before cleaning or treating the leather.
Can I put my suit in a dryer?
No.
Do not place your leather suit in a clothes dryer or expose it to excessive heat. Allow leather gear to dry naturally in a well ventilated area when necessary.
How should I store my suit?
Store your suit in a cool, dry, well ventilated environment away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture.
Avoid storing leather gear in a compressed or tightly folded condition for extended periods.

I’m not sure which leather is right for me. Can ARN help?
Absolutely.
If you’re deciding between kangaroo and cowhide, or you’re unsure which option is best for your riding, our team can help you understand the differences and determine which option best suits your needs.
I’m new to motorcycle racing. Is a custom suit right for me?
A custom fit suit can be an excellent choice for both experienced and newer riders who want a precise, secure fit.
