Made-to-Measure Sizing, Fit & Manufacturing Tolerance Policy 

All ARN made-to-measure and bespoke motorcycle suits and jackets are individually patterned and manufactured using the measurements recorded and/or approved at the time of ordering. They are not standard-sized, off-the-peg garments and should not be assessed using the same fitting expectations as ordinary clothing. The purpose of a made-to-measure motorcycle garment is to achieve an appropriate balance of rider fit, mobility, protective equipment positioning, comfort and functionality in the intended riding position.

Manufacturing and Fit Tolerances 

Due to the technical construction of multi-panel leather motorcycle garments, reasonable manufacturing and fitting tolerances are unavoidable. A general tolerance of approximately 4–5 cm may apply where technically appropriate,
depending on the measurement point, pattern construction, leather characteristics, armour, stretch panels, reinforcement, airbag accommodation and intended riding fit. This tolerance does not mean that every area or measurement of the garment may
automatically differ by 4–5 cm. Any reported fit concern will be assessed according to the relevant measurement point, construction and intended function of that particular area. Minor dimensional differences within reasonable manufacturing tolerances do not, in
themselves, constitute a manufacturing defect.

Race Fit and Riding Position 

Where a garment has been ordered with a race or sports fit, it is primarily designed and patterned to fit the rider correctly in the motorcycle riding position, rather than when standing fully upright. Race garments incorporate pre-curved arms and legs and are constructed around the expected position of the rider's shoulders, torso, hips, knees and limbs whilst riding. As a result, when standing upright, the garment may display folds, tension, pulling, bunching or apparent excess material in certain areas. These characteristics do not necessarily indicate an incorrect fit or manufacturing defect. A race-fit garment should therefore not be assessed solely whilst the rider is standing upright.

Initial Fit and Leather Break-In 

A newly manufactured leather motorcycle garment may initially feel considerably firmer or tighter than ordinary clothing. Natural leather requires movement and use to soften and gradually conform to the rider's body shape. Areas including the shoulders, chest, arms, elbows, waist, hips, crotch, thighs, knees and calves may change in feel as the leather and stretch components settle through normal use. Initial stiffness, firmness or localised tightness does not, by itself, constitute a manufacturing defect. However, a break-in period is not intended to correct a garment that has demonstrably been manufactured to materially incorrect dimensions.

Natural Leather Characteristics

Cowhide and kangaroo leather are natural materials and are not dimensionally uniform in the same way as synthetic materials. Individual hides and panels may naturally vary in thickness, grain, texture, softness, elasticity, flexibility and stretch characteristics. Consequently, different sections of the same garment may not feel or stretch identically. Reasonable variations arising from the natural characteristics of genuine leather are inherent to the material and are not, in themselves, considered manufacturing defects. Armour, Airbag Systems and Protective Equipment The garment pattern and fit are produced according to the protective equipment declared, supplied or worn by the customer during the measurement process. This may include an Alpinestars Tech-Air® system, back protector, chest protector, base layer or other protective equipment. Customers must inform ARN of the protective equipment they intend to use and, where requested, wear that equipment during the measurement process. Changing the airbag system, back protector, armour or other equipment after measurements have been taken may materially affect the fit and available internal space of the garment. ARN cannot accept responsibility for fit changes resulting from protective equipment that was not declared or used during the original measurement process.

Customer-Supplied and Remote Measurements

Where measurements are taken remotely by the customer, an assistant or another third party, the customer is responsible for ensuring that ARN's measurement instructions are followed accurately. ARN may review submitted measurements for apparent inconsistencies; however, such a review does not transfer responsibility for incorrectly taken or incorrectly suppliedmeasurements to ARN. Where a garment has been manufactured correctly according to measurements supplied and/or confirmed by the customer, a subsequent fit issue resulting from inaccurate customer-supplied measurements will not automatically be regarded as a manufacturing defect.
Where reasonably possible, ARN may offer alteration or adjustment options.

Changes in Body Measurements

The garment is manufactured according to the customer's measurements recorded and approved at the relevant stage of the order. Weight gain, weight loss, changes in muscle mass, pregnancy, injury, changes in body composition or any other subsequent alteration to the customer's body measurements may affect the fit of the finished garment. ARN cannot accept responsibility for fitting issues resulting from changes to the customer's body after the relevant measurements have been taken.

Fit Assessment Procedure

Before a garment can reasonably be assessed as having a potential fitting or manufacturing
issue, ARN may require the customer to:
• wear the intended base layer;
• correctly position all supplied armour;
• wear the same airbag system and/or back protector specified during measurement;
• fully fasten the garment;
• correctly position the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees;
• adopt an appropriate motorcycle riding position; and
• provide clear photographs and/or video, or make the garment available for physical inspection where reasonably required.
ARN must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and assess the garment before any alteration, repair or modification is undertaken by a third party.
Unauthorised third-party alterations or modifications may affect ARN's ability to establish the original cause of a reported fitting or manufacturing issue. Manufacturing Error and Personal Fit Preference A distinction must be made between a genuine manufacturing or measurement error and an individual's personal fit preference. A customer's preference for a garment to be tighter, looser, shorter, longer or otherwise different from the agreed specification does not, by itself, establish that the garment has been incorrectly manufactured. Where ARN determines that a genuine manufacturing or measurement error attributable to ARN has occurred, the matter will be dealt with in accordance with ARN's applicable warranty, alteration policy and the customer's statutory rights.

Meaning of Made-to-Measure

"Made-to-measure" means that a garment pattern is individually produced or adapted using the customer's measurements and relevant fitting requirements.
It does not mean that every finished garment measurement can reproduce every recorded body measurement with zero dimensional variation. Leather thickness, seams, reinforcement layers, armour pockets, stretch panels, lining, airbag accommodation and other technical construction requirements may all influence the finished dimensions and feel of the garment. Reasonable manufacturing variation is therefore an inherent characteristic of individually manufactured technical motorcycle clothing.

Statutory Rights

Nothing within this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or limit any statutory rights or remedies
that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable UK consumer law.
